The company that runs one of our UK datacentres is carrying out a major upgrade of the power systems, installing three new UPS and a new generator.
The cut-over to the new systems will take place between 2.00 am (GMT) and 7.00 am (GMT) on Monday 24th February 2014. It will be necessary to cut power for a period of time during the switch-over. How this affects your service depends on the type of service(s) you have. The following assumes that all work progresses as planned:
- All services will lose network connectivity for 30-60 minutes starting at 2.00 am (GMT)
- Virtual servers will not otherwise be affected.
- Bespoke dedicated servers with dual power will not otherwise be affected.
Normal dedicated servers will lose power EITHER at 2.00 am (GMT), OR at some time between 2.30 am (GMT) and 3.00 am (GMT) for a period of 30-60 minutes. If you have a dedicated server in that datacentre you will receive a further email more details of the timing and instructions for performing (or allowing us to perform) an orderly shutdown.
If all goes well all services should be back in operation by 4.00 am (GMT) but services should be considered 'at risk' for the entire period.
If you have any further questions, please open a support ticket and we will answer them promptly.
We appreciate your patience during the maintenance period.
